Jeff DeMent is a lifelong shooter and sportsman. He grew up in rural Missouri and has been enjoying the outdoors as long as he can remember.  His first rifle, a bolt action single-shot .22, was given to him by his father when he was 8 years old.  Since then he has been roaming the woods hunting and learning outdoor skills, wilderness survival, land navigation, and other field-craft.  His summers have been spent canoeing Missouri’s rivers.

In 1997 Jeff completed US Army basic training, receiving honors for the highest rifle marksmanship score in the training company.  His first security position was with the MAC DPS, where he served as a Security Officer and certified First Responder.  After 9/11 he served as a member of an anti-terrorism task force in St. Louis, working with the FAA / TSA and Lambert International Airport Police Department to ensure airline security and enforce FAA security directives.  Jeff is a US Army Combat Lifesaver and was a licensed EMT.  He has been deployed in support of  Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003, and Operation Iraqi Freedom I & II in 2004 and 2005.  He most recently served in Iraq (operation Iraqi freedom) as a Combat Engineer Team Leader.  While there SGT DeMent supported Task Force Iron Claw whose primary objective was to locate and neutralize IEDs, Weapons Caches, and Unexploded Ordinance.  Jeff is currently a member of the 138th Engineer Sappers, Missouri Army National Guard.

Between military deployments he has completed an Associate of Arts Degree and plans to graduate from Southeast Missouri State University soon with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation / Outdoor Adventure Leadership with a minor in Fitness and Exercise Science.
